Castle Bromwich Community Project wishes to thank the 32 volunteers who, despite the rain, turned out this week to help clear the debris and brambles at the bottom of the graveyard and create a shrub bed. Members of the Castle Bromwich Community Project supported by Solihull Council’s Environmental Champions and joined by employees of local business, ISS, Castle Bromwich & District Lions Club and young people from Castle Bromwich Youth Centre set to clearing the accumulated debris and brambles in order to create the shrub bed at the far end of the graveyard.

Eleven of the volunteers were students who used their half term holiday to help make a difference in the community as part of the National Student Volunteering Week.

ISS sponsored the week’s work by donating not only employee time, but also the plants for the shrub bed. Thanks to Trish Willetts, Environmantal Champion Co-ordinator for liasing with ISS and enlisting their help.

Other parts of the graveyard were not neglected, as young volunteers removed ivy and brambles and cleared obscured graves.

Anybody who took part will tell you that this was a massive project with a great deal of hard work needed to create the amazing difference you can see in the photos. Our sincere thanks to you all.
