Elizabeth was the eldest of four children born to Thomas Chattock and Maria Marriott of Hodge Hill, Castle Bromwich. Thomas was the son of Christopher Chattock and Elizabeth Farmer. Both he and his father are variously recorded as land owners and gentlemen.

The 1891 census lists Elizabeth, aged 26, as a teacher of pianoforte. But, after her father’s death Elizabeth appears to have moved to Devon with her mother and brother, Thomas. The 1911 census records the three of them as living in Torquay. She died in Bodmin on 16th January, 1940. She never married, and probate records show that she left her estate (£63 13s 11d) to her brother Thomas’ widow, Evelyn May Lloyd.
